Design
Ecoworks is Nottingham’s first Permaculture organisation, and has been practicing Permaculture Design for over 20 years, creating sustainable human habitats by following patterns and relationships found in
nature.

Having designed several of Nottingham’s most beautiful productive low energy spaces, we are currently working with large public and private sector organisations, community groups and individual homeowners, to transform our environment into a high yielding inspiring space, whilst addressing the challenges of climate change, soil erosion, depleting biodiversity, dwindling energy and mineral resources.
Our specialist expertise in forest gardening, no dig production, edible perennial plants and soil improvement, brings a wealth of detailed experience to projects on any scale and in any UK environment. Permaculture has enabled us to repeatedly re-think green space, from small urban gardens, walls and roofs, to public parks and broad acre agriculture; we pride ourselves on continual innovation through close observation of natural systems.
In addition to the use of many traditional and contemporary landscape tools, channelled though our ecologically trained senses and overflowing sketchbooks, Ecoworks harnesses the sharpest current digital technology to deliver innovative and beautiful high yielding solutions compatible with even the most demanding needs of our commercial client base.
Ecoworks remains at the forefront of Permaculture education in the UK, continuing to train a network of local designers able to support the transformation of environment through deep understanding of ecological processes. Ecoworks Community Garden was the first demonstration site within The UK Permaculture Association’s network of educational and demonstration sites, and we established the ‘Nottingham Permaculture Network’ of designers, thus our in house team is unsurprisingly composed of the most experienced members of the Midlands Permaculture design community.
Design fees are dependent upon the nature and scale of the work, and as a social enterprise we focus upon much more than the financial bottom line within all of our projects, we are always happy to provide a free quote and offer advice upon any design required. Our administrative layer is as light as possible, and as such overheads are far smaller than other landscape related organisations. We are highly experienced in creating and supporting work groups focused on specific sites, and our experience in community engagement can often produce significant project savings in addition to securing local
stakeholder involvement.
At Ecoworks we do what we do because we know we absolutely have to. We’re as committed to environmental transformation as anybody and we continually push towards a future where we won’t just survive through the coming challenges, we will thrive.
